How to Recover Your Website Files Without Your Developer
You can recover your website files without any admin access at all, which is worth knowing before you rebuild from nothing.

Everything published on a live site is, by definition, publicly available.
Recover Your Website Files From the Live Site
All your written content. Every page of text is visible and can be copied. Work through the site page by page, saving the text as you go.
Every image on the site. Images can be saved directly from the page. Note that these are usually compressed web versions rather than originals.
Documents and PDFs linked anywhere on the site.
Your page structure. The menu tells you what pages exist and how they relate. Record the addresses as well, since you will need them for redirects later.
Your metadata. Page titles and descriptions can be read from the page source, and they matter more than most people realise when rebuilding.
Anything Google has indexed. Search your own domain to find pages you had forgotten existed.
What You Cannot Recover This Way
Being realistic about what you cannot recover your website files from saves time.
The database. Customer records, orders, form submissions, and anything stored rather than displayed.
Custom code. Themes and plugins built specifically for you.
Anything behind a login, including member content and client areas.
Original image files at full resolution.
Email, which lives with the domain and hosting rather than the website.

The Order to Work In
One, list every page. Use the menu, then search your own domain in Google to catch anything unlinked. Record every address exactly.
Two, save the text, one page per document, named to match the page.
Three, save the images, organised by the page they appeared on.
Four, collect documents and any downloadable files.
Five, record titles and descriptions for each page.
Six, note anything dynamic you know exists but cannot see, so your new developer knows what to rebuild.
A five page business site takes about an hour. Do it before anything changes, since a live site can disappear without warning.

Where pages were removed before you started, public web archives sometimes hold older versions of a site.
Coverage is inconsistent, particularly for smaller Kenyan sites, so treat anything found there as a bonus rather than a plan.
Recovering Properly Through the Host
Manual work to recover your website files is a fallback rather than a solution.
Where the hosting account carries your business name and your payment details, contact the provider and ask for a full backup of files and database. Most will assist an account holder who can verify their identity.
That gives you everything, including the database, which no amount of page saving will replicate. Try this route first and treat manual recovery as what you do when it fails.
Store It Properly This Time
Once recovered, keep the material somewhere that does not depend on any single person or provider.
